The Custodians

“Hack, did you notice that my room is in the shape of a hexagon?”  Pearl asked.

Before Hack had time to respond, a door bell rang.  Hack and Pearl looked at each other.  “Come in.” Pearl said.

Recessed in the wall was a door that slid open.

In walked two funny looking birds.

“Hi” said the first bird in a authoritative sounding deep male voice.  “Welcome to the Cave.  We are the custodians of the hive.  The hive is where you and others are being monitored.”

“Who are you and why are we being monitored?”  Pearl asked.

“My name is Mr. Frozen and I am the manager of the Hive.  This is my organizer Mrs. Picky Picky. ”  Mrs. Picky Picky stood on one foot and was straightening out her feathers on one of her wings.  She was obviously an Owl and Mr. Frozen was a Penguin.

Mr. Frozen went on.  “The Computer is running an experimental program to test different senerios and discover which is the best one for efficiently controlling  people.”

Pearl was getting her dander up.  “What if I don’t want to participate?”

“By being here you have no choice.  Even resisting is part of the information that is both useful and interesting to the beast.”  Snapped Picky Picky in her horse voice.

Pearl decided it was wise just to keep quiet and see what these two birds had to say.

Mr. Frozen went over to the computer that was on the desk and sat down on a stool.    He moved the mouse and the screen that popped up was in the shape of a compass.

“There are four games that we have developed.  One is called Nothing About Nothing, in this game you will find all kinds of obstacles that keep you from getting anywhere.” Explained Mr. Frozen.   “The second game is called Ego – ,  The third game on the compass is called Shame and the fourth Want.  I hope you enjoy them”

Mrs.Picky Picky pipped in, “Just remember that if we see you are not playing the games will send you to the doctor.  He will give you some medication so that you will feel more like playing.”

Hmmm, thought Pearl.  This is not what I was expecting at all when I went to the Tree of Transformation.  It will take a lot of creativity to get out of this mess.
