The “Making Of” – 2

“Myth must be kept alive. The people who can keep it alive are artists of one kind or another. The function of the artist is the mythologization of the environment and of the world.”

                                             (Joseph Campbell)

Shakti says : So. I´m ready to depart on my Journey with Vivian. The last part of the preparations was really funny. And instructive. My subconscious threw some really interesting items at me, and I´m glad I have a space to record and archive them. From time to time I´ll jut in some comments on Vivian´s journey, in this “Making Of” part. I feel part of a team with her, as if we were two parts of the same brain (it actually is so, the right and the left part of the brain, journeying together).

Molly Malone and the Gypsy wagon had me in stitches. I´m really a very earthy person, linked to property, family and land, and…whatchamacallit ? Dignity? (Lol). To awaken to the realization that I could be fully happy, alone on the road, in a Gypsy wagon, and that this is actually one of the answers, right at the start, to the many questions that I have in my Journey, was fun to say the least.

As Vivian is, I´m a real Druid, so I´m ever on the lookout for signs and portents, and this was definitely gratifying.

I also drew the Tarot cards for the Journey, not only mine but in general for the whole enterprise, and got two of my favorite cards, no doubt they will resonate with the group: The High Priestess, and The Star. A good, very good omen. I think that it will make sense to more people.

I also drew the Druid Animal Oracle, because I wanted to see which animals would accompany me in my Journey, and got Hawk (Clarity of Vision), Dog (Faithfulness), and Horse (Strength and Travel). A very nice triangle, too:

Hawk (Nobility, Recollection, Cleansing) brings the ability to see your life in perspective, to free you of unnecessary “baggage” and connect you to your ancestral roots. Hawk can help you to recollect the missing pieces of the jigsaw that you are trying to assemble, and he will help, too, to spot the details which are significant.

Dog (Guidance, Protection, Loyalty) is acting as a loyal companion and friend on your journey. In the Druid Tradition the dog is seen as the Guardian of Mysteries. As such he can be fierce, but if our intentions are good, then he will lead us over the threshold through the darkness and the waters of the Unconscious toward the shimmering realm of the Goddess.

Horse (The Goddess, The Land, Travel) The spirit of Horse calls us to journey, to travel. This may manifest itself as a desire to travel in the physical world, or we may be drawn to voyaging in the inner realms. She brings us energy and speed and connects us to the power of both the land and the sun. By working with the spirit of Horse we will grow fo feel comfortable with every aspect of the life-cycle, knowing that the goddess protects and guides us through each of its stages.

Right on the nose!…I´m ready and steady, waiting for the word Go!
